West Bengal is surrounded with three coastal districts which are prone to cyclone. For strengthening these districts several multi-purpose cyclone shelters (MPCS) were built up at the strategic locations under PMNRF (Pradhan Mantri National Relief Fund), NCRMP (National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project), ICZMP (Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project).
For Flood prone areas several multi-purpose rescue shelters (MPRS), flood shelters are placed. Relief godowns are situated in all three tiers up to the block level.
